I thought a cool image for this post would be a tool box overflowing since this is how I feel so many tools so little time. So then I found the image of the man with all the tools in his hand and i thought wait that is how I feel so I typed in woman holding tools and this is one of the images that pooped up first . HMMMM this is not an accurate portrait of life in general and especially education I see so many men and women embarking of this journey of learning new tech tools. Sorry just needed to vent for a bit, maybe too much time in front of my computer ! I want to start with this question first :
Game Code 645836 it is a homework link if you want to play haha
I have wondered if this is the right tool and I am feeling that it is really working for my students. I am always amazed by how the student who really struggle seem to excel in the coding. I am still trying to figure out what about it works for them and one thing I can say is that the coding makes something happen and action and it gives immediate feedback. I am still learning and this is a journey that will continue to challenge my brain cells but I am grateful I have had the opportunity yo learn.

That would be great Scott it seems to be a very effective way to teach the commends at little details that they need to remember. You are an amazing teacher Scott your skill are very diverse.

Julie, you are walking the "growth mindset" walk! Your blog has really inspired me, as I sit here trying to figure out how I am going to make it to the end of July, lol. So I read your google doc, and took your homework Quizizz! Since I estimated that I would flop badly, having no coding experience, I gave myself the name "TooEmbarassed" to give my real name. However, I got 80%! Reading your coding challenge doc gave me what I needed to pass :-) I love Quizizz and I think you are doing a phenomenal job of using this tech tool to teach CSTEM to your students!

I second what Scott and Jona said! You have so much to be proud of, Julie! I am relieved to hear someone as techy as you say that you are not necessarily up to speed with using a tool. I think that is what is so cool about teaching...its always evolving and posing new challenges. We are never done learning...which is the best part!

First off, amazing job to you and your students for persevering through a very difficult curriculum and crossing every learning gap that came before you. I am sure that they have learned so many valuable lessons about sticking with it from seeing your desire to bring coding into your curriculum! I also want to echo the sentiment that you shared at the beginning of your blog; I feel overwhelmed by the possibility that technology places at our fingertips. We have so much to learn but we also have so many possibilities to augment our instructional practice.

Hi Julie - such a great blog post and so true. So many tech tools and so little time to figure them all out. It's great that we've been given the opportunity to investigate tools and then give some feedback. Great job that you have found something that is really working out for you and your students - that's what teaching is about! Kudos to you:)
